Is Grid Search a Good Option for Prediction Models?
The fact that hyper parameters are not uniformly distributed, you shouldn't search in uniform. Some packages allow you to short circuit that random selection or you can generate your own. I don't ever use grid search either manual tune because I'm trying to learn about the data. It's rarely for a production prediction model. But next week, we have an actual guest on where we'll talk about some stuff that they've written and have some fun with that.
