In the colonial era, n indians resist the colonial state, right? I don'tand i don't mean to undermine that notion at all. But what happens after that form persistence? Ra there is this conn in the everyday machinations oft the colonial state. It is coming into contact with people who are not necessarily taking up arms or resorting to violence to get their point across. And iam reluctant to focus too much on the spectacles of violence. In a city like banaras and in many other contexts, i'm sure, it is this accumulation of of these gradual modes of saying no,. "That's not how i understand it"
