Introduction
House minority leader Kevin McCarthy suggested on Tuesday that major Ukraine aid may be more difficult to pass in the house if it is controlled by Republicans after the upcoming midterm elections. He said, quote, I think people are going to be sitting in a recession and they're not going to write a blank check to Ukraine. They just won't do it. So while spending billions on this war in Ukraine still has pretty strong bipartisan support back in May when they passed that $40 billion Ukraine aid bill 57 house Republicans voted against it.
