Why Think About Violence?
The more civilized a society, the more privileged one is in that society, the less likely violence is a variable that anyone realistically has to worry about. There's about four times as many people killed in interpersonal violence every year as are killed by all the wars. Violence is so intrinsic to our nature as human animals. It's part of who we are. And I don't think anything good comes from repressing those instincts or thinking, you know, where some of those things are somehow below us.
