A retailer wanted to go highly centralized, but they'd had a communication failure once in their history where they lost all of their stores in Scotland. And so again, it was a very interesting architectural problem of how do we give sufficient power to the Tills because they didn't want store servers anymore. We had PCs for Tills. How do we get sufficient store processing capability just in case we lose contact with the mothership? That's when I started getting into more the enterprise architecture consulting and workshops.
