The Importance of Anxiety in the Arts

I didn't really think that when I was doing stand-up, I just did it one day and just said, I'll never do this for a living. It wasn't until moving to Chicago. That was when I made the decision. All the rest of it was just about having fun. There's no defense in the arts. There's nobody trying to actively, for the most part, when you're doing it, stop yourself. You improv is so fucking hard. And stand-up is hard, but at least you can get a head start, you know, and think about it.
