i spoke with the adeta cruncher who wrote an article suggesting that once the omercron surge subsides, it may be game over. The combination of people who are vaccinated, people have been infected already, as well as the development of therapeutics, may mean that life can start to go to normal. But i don't think thit's going to go away quickly in terms of large numbers of cases yet. No one can predict these variants right now.
