At the extreme, it could look something like avoidant personality disorder. A lot of people that I work with are people who really want to go to the barbecue. And they really want to belong and be connected and have a circle of friends. They feel blocked by their nervousness and blocked by their fears. But when you start to untwist those thoughts and stop believing the things you've been telling yourself or the stories that you've created for who you're or who other people are, then big breakthroughs can happen.
