The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop drinking. This tradition is meant to be inclusive rather than exclusive. You don't have to be a pure alcoholic to be a member of AA. John: I would hate to be in the judgment business and try to determine which alcoholic can be and which one cannot. They make some of the best AA members you ever seen in your life.
