The Disagreement Between Aristotle and Philoponus

Philoponus says the heavens are not made of a special fifth kind of matter, as Aristotle thinks. He wants to show that Proclus was wrong about the world's eternity, and also in his interpretation of Plato. Philoponus: Even if a hot stone comes to be from something else, namely a cold stone, the heat that appears in the stone comes to exist after not existing.
