Would you describe the gnostics as a sort of an intellectual wing of the christian sects and movements that were going on, as martin describedat that time? It's tricky, because i think thirten that even within institutional christianity, there are branches of institutional christiany between the second and fourth centuries who you could describe as intellectuals. But i think there are a very specific kind of intellectual wing. So nosis the idea of experiential wisdom, the idea, and the gospel of philip, i think, describes it as lighting the lamp within your soul.
