Monopoly Tournaments

The first tournaments were held in the early 70s. They tended to happen after a world chess championship kind of on the back of that, but they were held every single year. There was also the first US championship which had winners from all 50 states competing for the title. This interestingly though has not happened since 2015. It's kind of wild to see there hasn't been one in so long as this may be marking the decline in popularity of monopoly.
