The Importance of a Mother's Vision
Mary perceives that there is a contradiction. The issue is to find out where exactly does the contradiction lie. She was angry and bitter at the friends asleep, but then she sees that her son looks at them with pity and understanding. That's a great contrast even to her own reaction. So now we're getting a little bit closer to where the contradiction actually lies.
