Kolev's Rocket Launches Object D

Sergey Kolev was in charge of developing the first man-made satellite, Sputnik. He had to find a place close to the equator so that it could be launched into orbit. The launch took place on October 3, 1957 but failed 101 minutes later. Khrushchev's bedroom phone rang at 2 am and he heard about the failure from his secretary.
