Sunnadin's Reputation for Mercy Is Power

Sunnadin has got this reputation for mercy. And it's when he then captures Jerusalem a couple of months later that that really is that reputation. In 1099, the first crusaders get to Jerusalem as a bloodbath. There is some pressure on Sunnadin to make revenge for that. But he decides not to. The act of not slaughtering the Christians in 1187 does so much of his reputation. I mean, mercy is power. I could kill you, but I won't. He just sort of put a stake through the heart of Western Europe by taking Christians and this great city.
