The Importance of Identity

I like the way he ends chapter one with a, or not chapter one, he ends part one with a chapter on identity. And it kind of leads you into part two, because you end this first section realizing like, I'm really actually dependent on everyone around me for my own identity. Well, then what else am I dependent on other people for? Then he goes through the case studies as it were. Yeah, and we tend to think of identity often maybe as extreme cases of what we call identity politics. But in a lot of more benign ways, all of us struggle to embrace the particularity and limits that constitute who we are.
