Free market protocols will continue to have an edge because you know they're going to have newer and newer features. The important thing about this too is that it is secured by the same ether stakers. Even if 100% of stake is restate, even if every sticker restakes and runs when downsharding is running, if a block data is missing, Ethereum will fork around it.
