The History of Ibn Batuta

Muslim traders and merchants had come to these places in the past few centuries, partnering with the local people. All of this was possible because of innovations in sailing by Arab navigators. This more than anything allowed them to venture successfully so far across the ocean. Ibn Batuta does not say anything about the size or design of the ship that he sailed on but it was likely a fairly large trading dowel.
