The Power of Passive Writing
Taylor Swift is a good example too, just to also give credit to that as well. There's a lot of science behind the idea that when an audience or a reader can put together things, almost before they're told or before they're shown, that releases three chemicals in your brain that make you feel good. As a storyteller, I know that if I can get the audience to see the surprise just before I say it or even be surprised, that also releases the chemicals. The more we can alter the brains of our audience in a positive way that makes them feel good, the more they will then look at us as the makers of that good feeling and appreciate us more.
