I sometimes think about this perhaps strange contacts, which was that i grew up as a jew in germany. And at a time in which germany was really trying to reckon with its past and reckon with its own identity. I certainly experienced a little bit of antisemitism in my life, but i also experienced a lot of creepy philosemitism. Philo semetism. There is a philo blackism as well among a great many whites. It is overdone, but i completely understand it. I would exhibit it if i were white. But where that kind of person is more concerned with atoning for their ancestors than in help living black people.
