The King of the North Is Here to Stay
I tried for 16 years in the Westminster system to make it listen properly to the voice of the North and it doesn't. So I decided with Steve to take a step outside and to come and do what we're doing now. And I think whatever you look at the progress we've made or not made, I think the North is kind of being heard a bit more. People here can't be second class citizens as the people of Liverpool were treated for 20 years. It needs people need to reflect more on that than has been reflected upon. The world needs to get used to the north of England having a much, much louder political voice because it's only going to get louder still.
