If you have or ie to run ethernet cable and you need to worry about lightning stuff, you will need ethernet serge protectors. Some of them, in certainly older u p ses, would only allow a hundred meg a bit to pass through them. It's hard to say whether the lightning strike came from within your network and therefore blew up the ether net port on the router from that direction. You'll want to make certain that the searge protectors that you buy will allow thousand megabit, gig a bit, ethernet or faster,. The ones i found were 25 megaherts so you're fine just don't want to filter out frequencies used by your cable.
