Your parents were also farmers and you've written that your childhood was one of a lot of hard work and not much money, but one of solid family affection. Your family farm was this subsistence farm. We would be lucky from year to year to be able to cover expenses, to feed ourselves and to maybe bring in enough money to farm again the next year. And interestingly enough, even though we were not making a lot of money, my mother decided that she wanted her children to go to college.
