Introduction
martin luther was given a letter of indulgence by pope leo the tenth. Luther had travelled 639 miles on footbone to reach Rome for his trial. He scaled 28 marble steps that jesus christ had ascended when condemned and led out to his crucifixion. A dominican friar held out a wooden fox as he reached the top, then handed him the document.
