Introduction

This is the editorial for the Bougie trial delivered at a critical care reviews trial results livestream on December 8th, 2021. The manuscript was simultaneously published in JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association. The Bougie trial compared the use of a stylish with a Bougie in 1,102 patients requiring emergency intubation in either the emergency department or the intensive care unit.
