Is Oxycodone Really a Painkiller?

I am a big fan of oxycodone for pain and I will add it PRN even on intubated patients pretty early on. One thing you have to be really careful with with oral agents is that when you've got a patient who's getting better and is ready to leave the ICU, you need to get those medicines off or at least have a conversation with the team that's going to be taking over.
