Oedipus II and the Curse of Thebes

Abby: Oedipus is a victim of his own paranoid attempt to make sense of himself. The city of Thebes has a political curse cast upon him and all these horrid symptoms are plaguing Thebes. In that way he becomes puppeted by his own neurosis of a sense of destiny, making too much sense out of the situation. Alex: That fissure of like reintroducing nonsense into one's life into one's own sense of neurosis is itself the therapeutic act.
