The Cure for the Pickle

Gustav A.E. Fell, the same guy who was going to design the Eiffel Tower in a few yearswas hired to make the statue stand. He had enough money but little did anyone involved with the project know that Bartoldi had literally no idea how to keep this statue up for real. The copper and iron were just to be separated by pieces of cloth. And I think later they used asbestos, but just a physical barrier between the metal seemed very simple.
