The Politics of Social Media in Latin America

In most countries there are no clear rules governing platforms legal responsibility for the content that they host. Some governments such as those of Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and its Salvador have used the excuse of fighting fake news to silence dissenters on social media. For their part these governments say they're merely countering hostile, politically motivated social media campaigns.
