How Much Minerals Do We Need?
The world currently does not have enough of the minerals in circulation needed for the production of clean energy technologies. Under our scenario that's compliant with the paris agreement, we would expect to see a four to six times increase in overall mineral requirements by 20 forty. But if you look at individual minerals, growth would need to be even faster. For lithium, this is as much as forty times higher. For cobalt and nichol, were talking about 20 to 25 times higher. This is really an enormous increase in scale. We would need to see new mines, newer cycling capacity, new processing capacity throughout the supply chain," says K, c michaels.
