What Is Russia's Economic Future in 2018?
In the early 2000s, the political system is still relatively open. The economic system is becoming more closed. And you have basically the emergence of what eventually we have today: a parliament in Russia that is not independent. We had our own lost decade since autumn 2008, where essentially we didn't move anywhere. Our GDP is basically the same and economists argue among themselves about whether it grew 3% or contracted 1.5? But I think it doesn't really matter. The point is that we never got anywhere during this past decade.
