What European Immigrants Don't Have: Land

In the nineteenth century, most arable land was already being used. But thanks in part to government incentives, that land was increasingly given over to coffee. Some people did get paid for their land, but not necessarily much. In the end, the land ended up belonging to mostly european coffee plantation owners.
