Co2 in the Oceans Is Increasing
There is no other known source of co2 besides our fossil fuels and cement production which is about five percent of our emissions so it's a significant portion where we're turning calcium carbonate into lime and emitting co2 in manufacturing cement. "Fossil fuel consumption fuel consumption is 95 percent of our co2 emissions," he says. The oceans will never become acidic just due to the salinity concentration they have in them but if it wasn't for co2 being in the oceans life would be impossible without co2 providing a buffer to alkaline elements.
