The great innovation, advance genius of palascus is the fact that the thing they are looking at is paint. So when they looked at him, they knew they were looking at a painting, and yet that painting looked like a man. It's a kind of optical understanding i don't think has ever been surpassed or preceded. The sort of magic that velasques is out in his brush strokes,. how they ever coalesce into an image is certainly beyond my understanding.
