A lot of our interactions with other people are different. Are you trying to make someone feel good in the moment? Or are you trying to help them in the long run? I think that we don't want to take the pain or make the other person feel pain. So instead we like sugarcoat it or we don't actually tell them the truth. You know, if you really want to be a great friend to somebody, telling them the truth so that they can actually achieve your goals in the longrun.
