Meg Ryan: I would say there were two aspects, two challenges in that transition. One was internal. The external one was in general, not everyone, but there's a group of people who really don't want you to make that transition. You have to declare it and be it and own it. That's the first big psychological step. My development producer brain would always stop me. So what I did to get over that was I started to write things that my producer development brain didn't know anything about.
