Is it really possible to conceive of any popular working class movement that doesn't at least begin with an appeal to people's sense of indignation or dissatisfaction, he asks. In order for a working class movement to reconstitute itself "it would inevitably involve the creation of some sort of advanced guard," says Marx. The only possibility for a more humane society is passing on to a higher stage of social organization - and we've been living in this ever since capitalism was created 100 years ago.
