The Accidental Element of the Federal Reserve's Investments in Government Bonds
SVP: The banks make their profit out of not because they actually do anything useful in society. All they're doing is just facilitating and owning things, so they're creaming profits out of other sectors of the economy. But obviously, if the economy is starting to falter, then inevitably the banks also will be affected. SVP: They are particularly badly affected in all these situations, which is the same thing that happened in 2008. And there is not really any safe investment, that's the point. I mean, government bonds, for example, suddenly became extremely unsafe.
