How to Use System One Versus System Two Processing in a Chess Game

If you got two chess players, one person's got five minutes and the other one's got three hours, the three hour person has an advantage. But if it was only based on patterns, they wouldn't have an advantage. This is because experts also benefit from the time afterwards to improve or sharpen what they just come up with as hypotheses. A five-minute grandmaster versus a three-hour beginner, five-minutegrandmaster will win. The reason is their hypotheses are really good, and the beginners don't even come up with the right hypotheses in the first place.
