Is There a Reservation for the Upper Caste?
The question is how does this square with the constitutional principles that we had set for ourselves? That is really the question. And I think we are going into all of these contortions today to find circuitous ways of trying to explain or the logic of what is happening because we cannot name caste openly. Now that without being named as such there is now a reservation for the upper caste. This will certainly change the ideological climate and perhaps the common sense around questions of reservation and the links to caste.
