CHAPTER

Precipitated Withdrawal

I definitely have seen folks run into some issues if it's PRN because it's really important to to keep that medication on and keep those receptors sort of saturated with their baseline opioids. I also think that like sometimes it definitely decreases your risk of having any precipitated withdrawal occasionally some patients may experience a little bit of minor discomfort so I do counsel patients on that at the start just so they're prepared. If at any point you're having discomfort please like let us know we want to make adjustments we made to need to adjust the full agonist or give comfort medications but we just want to keep an open line of communication so we can help treat and manage symptoms as they go through that process.
