Using mRNA as a Therapeutic
Scientists have been working for many years to get us to the point where we could use mRNA quickly in an emergency situation. Our body knows when something's covered in antibodies, we have to get rid of it. When those antibodies bind to an invading coronavirus, basically it gets walled off from its surroundings. It cannot interact with our lung cells or other cells that it wants to infect.
