Adam Smith's Moral Sentiments
Adam Smith was a friend of David Hume, so why not read about him? And you mentioned that very little has been written about the theory of moral sentiments. So I raced off to the library to see what all the other philosophers and historians of philosophy had written about it. There were a few notable exceptions, but among philosophers at least, they hadn't really paid much attention to it. That led me to think that this was something that was worth exploring.
