The United States Can Safely Withdraw From Nearly All European and Middle Eastern Issues
A number of foreign policy analysts have developed a theory of benign realism. This holds that the United States can safely withdraw from virtually all European and all but a handful of Middle Eastern issues. Such a view is not very historical, as Britain was involved in almost continuous wars with France from 1689 to 1815. Iran, Russia and China do not see American withdrawal as a call to moderate their ambitions or revise their revisionist opposition to the current world order.
