How Did Robespierre Fall?
The fall of Robespierre was a turning point for the whole country, not just napoleon. The jacobins claimed only they had the ideological commitment and force of will required to fight a total war. Supporters of the revolution were willing to make a lot of sacrifices towards that goal. However unpopular these measures were, a significant portion of the population preferred them over a return to the old regime. By the summer of 17 94, that tide had definitively swung the other direction.
