System of two black holes has got the snappy name, SDSS J0749 plus 2255. It's found within two merging galaxies tens of billions of light years away from Earth. Despite their heft, supermassive black holes are actually pretty tough to detect directly. Team saw them thanks to massive jets of electromagnetic radiation known as quasars.
