Quasimodo is put on trial partially I guess for manhandling as Meralde but what he's really sentenced for is because he is death and can't hear the person who's sentencing him. There's just like this weird sequence of events where Quasimodo's sentence keeps getting extended because of misunderstandings. Hugo by one in the one in this here Phoebus is he falls for Esmeralda because she's pretty and she also falls for him too because he saves her from Quasimido in the first place.
