The feminist movement was a central part of the emergence of PTSD in 1980. Major effort was expended on pushing against rape victims, which meant PTSD had to be rethought again. For feminist psychiatrists or people working with rape and incest victims, this was incredibly important because of the culture of blaming women and girls for sexual assault.
