The Anti-War Movement Was Dominated by White Academics

In 1970, the New York Times published a piece noting that 56% of adults believe the United States made a mistake in sending troops to fight in Vietnam. The paper didn't challenge this even though it had access to data that could do just that. In 1971, Norman Leers All and the Family premiered on TV introducing the viewing public to Archie Bunker who was an anti-union bigot. This representation of the working class union member has been solidified in our pop culture today.
