Introduction
Obadiah is one of three prophets whose message of judgment is not directed at God's people, but one of their enemies. The nation of Edom descended from Esau, the twin brother of Jacob. They are technically the closest relatives of the Israelites, but they never treated them like allies. In Exodus, as the wandering nation of Israel journeyed toward the promised land, Edom didn't allow them to travel across their land.
